The vashi sports academy - 50th year grand celebration !
Oh what a joyous occasion it was to witness the glamour and glitz of the 50th year of celebrations of the Vashi sports academy, with a individual sport thrown in for good measure!
A proper sequence of events is still up for deliberation, but the match itself was short lived, full of aggression and bursts of tactical maneuvers, all thought of in split seconds to catch the opponent unawares!
On one side we had the erstwhile celebrated badminton player, tall, lanky, dark, and full of unreleased energy! On the other side, a veteran toiler, dusting his shoes for one last high intensity game. The swings of fortune betrayed the lackluster spectators, one of whom was particularly keen on the match not taking place at all !
But just like life, once a rally is in progress, nothing but a defeat brings it to an end, whether it ends in a cumbersome matter, or a brilliant tactic completely throwing one's opponent off guard!
Such was then the momentum of our latest spectator sport, badminton. Oh the shots that were released, had some of the audience positively swaying in their seats (with boredom, I presume). While two opponents at such ventures brave it out with gusto, the nuances of their styles and abilities are often missed by the spectators, all who are interested in various ventures, perhaps not even connected to the sport !
Spare a thought though for the unavailable umpires. conspicuously absent, leaving things to pan out as they would, without a sense of control on the match proceedings. A pity then, that sponsorship in sports is a limited occurrence in our country. Sometimes players deserve more respect, me thinks.
Unfortunately, just as a fitting conclusion was being hammered out, what should happen but the heavens open up! and in the ensuing downpour, all that was left exposed were leaky roofs, fumbling personnel, inept administration , and the priorities rapidly changed from sports to maintenance!
No wonder then, the match ended on a tired note, with a remaining audience of one wishing no sports existed at all to interrupt flow of routine everyday life, and everyone went home, perhaps hoping a new match will bring renewed vigor and energy to soak up the tension of recent events in the administration department!
